Okay, so you cannot ski in summer (except for a 200 metre run at the Jungfraujoch).  However, you can walk, climb, mountain bike, swim, play tennis and do just about any summer time mountain activity (you know you have always wanted to try tandem parachuting). You can even sail on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and play golf in Interlaken.

We have culture too.  Honest, we are not just a collection of mountain hillbillies.  Come to the Mendelssohn music week (in August) and we will prove it.
The summer season kicks off in May and runs into October.  In May and June, the mountains are a riot of colour as the spring flowers strut their stuff.  A great time

for a walking holiday.  Or if you would rather swim, cycle and ride, come in August to the Inferno triathlon (which finishes across the valley in Murren).  If that sounds a bit on the tough side, how about one of the world’s most difficult marathons?  Every September, the Jungfrau marathon starts in Interlaken and finishes above Wengen at Kleine Scheidegg, with a difference in altitude of 1,829 metres.  No problem!  In fact, the course passes Rocks Bar, so you could stop in for a beer on route.

October brings another orgy of colour as the leaves change and fall.  New England, eat your heart out.

Wengen has a lot to offer the summer visitor.  Come up and see us sometime.
